Looking Glass — Hands-Free Tattoo Reference Stack

Hands-free reference stack, voice controlled references. Talk to your phone and tell it to switch pictures — so while you are tattooing you do not have to touch your iPad with gloves on. Layers also cross-fade on their own if you stay quiet, and you can start, stop, zoom in, and zoom out without breaking sterility.

What Looking Glass does

  • Voice control — gloved hands stay clean

Say layer one through four, next, previous, play, stop, faster, slower. On-device speech when available. Switch refs mid-session without tapping the screen.

  • Auto cross-fade

Up to four references cycle on a timer (about two seconds by default). Voice can speed up or slow down the cycle, or hold a single layer when you need it.

  • Start, stop, and zoom

Control the animation and zoom level from voice or minimal on-screen controls during setup — keep the main glass view clean during the tattoo.

  • Four-layer stack

Guided setup adds each layer beside a live preview, then Open glass opens the main display: grid, dots, and mic — nothing else in the way.

  • Save & reopen

Save glass sessions from the menu and reopen saved stacks between appointments.

When artists reach for Looking Glass

  • Run linework, shading, and color refs in rotation on a large back piece or leg sleeve.
  • Keep a sterile environment — no glove prints on the iPad.
  • Hold one layer with voice while you work a specific section.
  • Let references cycle hands-free when you do not want to talk.

Frequently asked questions

How many references can I stack?
Up to four layers in one glass session.
Does voice control need internet?
No. Speech runs on-device when your iPhone supports it.
What if I do not use voice?
References still cross-fade on a timer. Voice is optional — handy when your hands are on the machine.
